Who?

Let us talk about the Grammys

First, however let me remind you that the musicians and artists attending this event are all of reasonable age; close to or in adulthood, some older than others (yes, I am talking about you Madonna) and surly at one point have learned something about common sense. Once again, some more than others.

Of course the night begins with the red carpet, thousands of dollars worth of dress and suits, graced the carpet...and others were there at least.

The Grammys are the one night for music royalty to come together and celebrate each other and their achievements, which is respectable. However, the broadcast itself is multiple hours and you get 2 or 3 memorable events that people will talk about the next day. The rest floats off into history. As one broadcaster from 1310 The Ticket radio show put it,

"It's like sticking your hand in diarrhea for a quarter."

But we dug away.

That is not where I'd like this to go however. I'd like to focus on the story of Kanye and Beck.

The Grammys were multiple days ago, yet it has taken all this time to wrap my head around the actual thought process and actions of Mr. West.

"And the Grammy for Album of the Year goes to......Beck!"

....wait who?

I will admit, I said the same thing. In a category of Beyonce, Sam Smith (who cleaned up the awards), Ed Sheeran, and Pharrell, who is this guy?

Beck stood his ground and during his speech pronounced that he wrote, played, sung, and prouduced this entire album IN HIS HOME. This entire project was his: there was not one single aspect he was not apart of.

Admirable.

That is where Kanye jumps in, going to pull another, "BEYONCE HAD ONE OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!" on poor Beck. He turned away though, looking as though it was a joke.
It was not.

After the show, Kanye was interviewed (full interview below). He protested, "I just know if the Grammys want to keep the real artists coming to the show, the better stop playing, stop playing with us."

Here is Kanye, outspoken millionaire air-head, that now claims Beck is not a real artist?

Beck, who we admitted to never hearing about before last Sunday, is an artist that is having the night of his life. He also won Best Rock Album. In my eyes, Beck is the real artist. Whereas Kanye, I suppose, goes into the studio with producers for a few hours and leaves and comes back to a finished product.

I am all for standing up in an injustice and voicing an opinion, especially to be the first one to do it, but by insulting Beck as a man, musician, artist, and producer, is not an efficient way to do so.

Beck is a real artist.
Kanye West is a loud mouth jerk with an unreasonable amount of confidence.
